Works in Progress

I decided to expand my blog to show that I am actually sewing something!!  These quilt tops, etc. are not necessarily made from my CLFFF (Craigslist Fabulous Fabric Find).

February 6, 2011 - PUMPKIN SEED

I bought the fabric for this top last fall.  I'm making a double bed size for Megan's guest room.  It's called a pumpkin seed pattern.

I purchased a package called "Quilt Smart" - just iron on, cut, sew, cut, turnm iron on (4 seeds to one block), applique and you're finished with one block.  Did I mention I I need 42 blocks to make a double bed sized quilt, that's 42 x 4 = 168 pumpkin seeds!!!  Here's the start of the pumpkin seeds:

I have them all sewed, step one, and about 100 turned.  I'm going to wait for Megan's expertise to put the 4 together for each block.  One step at a time.  Tonight the Super Bowl is on TV.  I'm pretty sure I'll get the rest of the seeds cut and turned!!

February 6, 2011 - Take 5 .. Makes New Friends  - that's the name of this quilt top from the pattern book "Take 5 - Quilts from Just 5 Fabrics" by Kathy Brown.

These fabrics are from my CLFFF which are shown on the main page of my blog.  This will be a fast quilt to get together if I would just work on one thing (ha ha).  Here's one block:

I actually did get all of these blocks sewn together today and the top is laid out.  I'm putting it on the back burner for now to work on another challenge block.  Three down, three to go!

February 6, 2011 - SATURDAY SAMPLER FROM MERRILY'S QUILT SHOP

This quilt will take an entire year to finish - one block at a time. I've done the December and January block, but missed out on getting my February block yesterday because of the snow covered roads. Now I'll have to pay the $5 to get it some time this month.  They are only free if you attend your assigned time on the first Saturday of the month!!

February 8, 2011 - PUMPKIN SEED UPDATE

The pumpkin seeds are all turned and ready to be sorted thanks to Super Bowl Sunday,

Block 4 of the challenge is finished.  Will I get them all done by Saturday??

I finished quilting on Able's guitar quilt, so now I have to bind 6, yes 6, quilts - I'm going to have a binding marathon real soon.  Actually, I'm going to quilt one more, then work on the binding!!

February 20, 2011 -

I finished the binding on 3 of the small quilts this past week.  Now they are ready for their photo shoot.  I'm going to have to get Mike on that project soon.  I cut binding for 2 more and I need to go to Hobby Lobby for the fabric for the froggie quilt.  So hopefully I'm going to get these done soon.

The pumpkin seed project is also moving right along.  I'm getting there!!

Like I need another project - but I do so love BOMs, so I picked up the "star" BOM from the QB.  Here's my first two.
This will be another year long project, but I'll keep you posted.

APRIL 1, 2011 - UPDATE: on the pumpkin seed quilt:

The pumpkin seeds are all together (yeah) and it's time for the border.  I have two choices and Megan has made the decision since it is her quilt.  So soon I'll have the border on and ready for quilting.  This is going on my "high priority" list, along with about 6 or 7 others!!

Paige's star quilt is quilted and just needs binding.  Hopefully this weekend.  I say that every weekend!!
